Emu

Did you know

It is the male who makes the nest and once the eggs are laid, the male sits on them until they hatch.

Fun Fact!

Emus (Dromaius novaehollandiae) are the second largest bird in the world, after the Ostrich. They have two sets of eyelids, one for blinking and the other for keeping the dust out. Even though they are flightless, Emus still have small wings which they use to steer themselves when running at top speed. They are the only birds with calf muscles, which allow them to jump up to 7 feet in the air.
