The Australian Water Dragon Intellegama lesueurii is a shy creature, hiding in heavy vegetation or diving into water at the slightest hint of a threat. However they are very sociable with their own kind, as the young dragons stay very close to their nest for some time until mature, and then form their own small communities with other young dragons away from the adults. They are very adept swimmers and climbers, and have strong legs and claws to enable them to climb trees, and their powerful tail is used to aid with swimming.
