See Life on the Farm

We want you to thoroughly enjoy your visit to us and to help ensure this we ask you to follow some basic health and safety rules. Instructions are posted at the main car park entrance.  Please ensure that you read them on entry and during your visit follow the guidelines given.

At Whitehouse Farm Centre your welfare, health & safety during your visit is taken very seriously.  We do our best to ensure that the Farm Park is a safe environment, but please be aware that all animals carry a range of microorganisms that could pose a significant health risk to humans, especially the elderly and the very young.

It is therefore important that you follow these simple required precautions.

·    Always wash hands thoroughly before eating, after contact with the animals and again as you leave the Centre.
·    DO NOT eat food, which has fallen to the ground, or eat and drink whilst in contact with the animals.
·    Children should be particularly discouraged from putting their fingers in their mouth or kissing animals.
·    DO NOT put dummies that have fallen on the ground back into children’s mouths.
·    DO NOT taste any of the animal food.
·    All cuts and grazes must be covered with a waterproof dressing.
·    DO NOT climb onto walls, gates, fences or enter any of the animal enclosures.
·    Approach and handle animals quietly and gently.
·    DO NOT chase, torment or frighten the animals as this could change their behaviour towards you and other visitors.
·    Kicking, biting, scratching, spitting, peeing and pooing are all normal animal behaviour – so please BE ALERT as not paying attention could result in an unexpected surprise.
(Parents, carers and guardians please take note that whilst we do say this in a light hearted way the potential for harm can be a serious risk if you do not properly supervise the children under your care).
·    All children must be supervised by their accompanying adults at all times (we cannot be held responsible for any loss or accident that might occur if you do not closely supervise those for whom you are responsible.
·    Ensure that you and children in your care always stay in the public areas.
·    Keep yourself aware of the safety signage displayed in each area and in the event of an incident, follow instructions given by our members of staff.
·    Pregnant women must keep away from our sheep and their pens during the lambing season (specific notices are displayed in the areas affected)
·    It is against the law to smoke anywhere on the premises other than the designated area next to the car park.

BE SAFE, BE HAPPY AND ENJOY YOUR DAY
